Thick octavo, 896pp, in original brown cloth with embossed gilt centerpiece, gilt titles on sunned spine, and beveled edges. Cloth at top of spine worn. Binding is still firm although paper on inside front hinge starting. Wonderfully informative book about New York City offering a view of life as it was in 1869. Internally very good. All folding maps still present and attached including large foldout map of New York City in front of book. All engraved plates present. Foxing on a few pages and in borders of a few of the fold outs. A few pages have what appears to be damp staining on bottom of page. Foldout of "An Ironclad Oath of the Olden Time" has a three inch tear that is easily repairable. No inscriptions or marks.
