The Valor of Ignorance, Homer Lea, New York and London, Harper & Brothers Publishers, 1909. Navy blue buckram with gilt titles and U.S. seal on front cover, gilt title on spine. Reproduced photograph of Homer Lea as frontispiece with tissue guard. Book is in very good condition, binding is tight and solid and internally the book is very clean with only occasional marginalia in blue pencil. There are a few rough-edged pages in the front of the book at the preface and introduction - it looks as if someone used their finger to open these pages rather than using a knife. All else is very good. The author predicted Japanese imperialist aims in the East and the Pacific and how they were in a position to destroy the U.S. Naval force in the Pacific , and of the unpreparedness, militarily and politically of the United States.
