Timothy's Tunes, Adeline McCall, The Boston Music Company, Boston, Mass. c1943.
Timothy's Tunes, Adeline McCall, The Boston Music Company, Boston, Mass. c1943. Timothy's Tunes is a collection of songs for children to play and sing. The principle is to teach the child the tune first in order for them to learn the rythym, and then teach the song to be played on a one octave instrument (like a xylophone) or a toy or real piano. The tunes are shorter since children have limited time spans. The songs range from one note to eight note songs. The book, including cover, was illustrated by Anna Braune. Just about every other page is a full page illustration, mostly black and white, depicting characters or items or actions sung about in the song. There are six color full page illustrations. Front inside board has ink mark or scratch, pencil inscription in right corner of fep "Timothy Cripps Feb 19 1957 first lesson" There is another blank fep, title page (i) table of Contents (ii) A Few Suggestions (iii), Note to Grown Ups (iv) and the story of Timothy Tunes (v-vii). Pages 1 - 79 are lyrics and music. There is some blue crayon marks on page 75, else book has clean interior. The outer paper boards are colorfully illustrated on both front and back; title, author, and publisher printed on front board. Black linen cloth tape spine. There are some water spots on both and front board (not from humidity but on water being sprinkled), not that noticeable with all the color art. Usual bumping of corners and rubbing of edges. overall, book is in good plus condition, binding is still tight and holding. Timothy's Tunes.
