This work covers the decipherment of the Cuneiform Inscriptions, The Archaeological Materials and the Excavations at Susa and the Origin of Bronze, the Sumerians, the Relation of Babylonian to Egyptian Civilization, Babylonia and Palestine, Asia minor, and Canaan in the century before the Exodus. There are nineteen illustrations including the frontispiece. Blue cloth covered boards with beveled edges, spine and board edges sunned to a light brown. Gilt titles on spine. Outer and bottom page edges deckled, top edges are smooth. Original black endpapers. Inside cover has bookplate of the Scottish Antiquarian Society and bookplate of William P. Gallagher. Binding is solid, and internally the book is very clean - there are no marks, no writings, no underlinings, and no foxing.
