This bible is in wonderful condition, there are some minor flaws but for the most part the pages overall are still crisp and bright. The fep has the previous owner's name and date of 1855 in ink, and on the inside cover in ink is the price of $300, which was a tremendous amount of money back then. Red and black title page with cartouche of two puttis displaying three coats of arms of Nuremburg. The Bible is complete and includes the Augsburg Confession. Folio size and covered in a natural pigskin. Elaborate tooling. There is a vignette centerpiece within a frame within a border within another border on the front and back covers depicting yet again another coat of arms. The front cover also has the letters I.W.K.V.K.S.V.K.V.N. tooled within a frame at the top. All metal corners and clasps and hasps are present. The top of the front hinge is starting to split, but is still holding and the binding is tight and solid. German Bible, Martin Luther, 1710.
