The Tragedie of Cymbeline, William Shakespeare, Printed from the Folio of 1623, London, 1923,Ernest Benn Limited. The Players' Shakespeare edition, with an introduction by Mr Harley Granville-Barker, and illustrated by Mr Albert Rutherston, printed at the Shakespeare Head Press, Stratford-Upon-Avon and limited to 100 signed copies for sale and six copies not for sale. This copy has an X in ink where the number should be, so not sure if they meant 10 or not. It is quarto, bound in vellum by Zaehnsdorf with gold gilt decorated framing on both covers, gilt titles on spine, and printed on Bachelor's Kelmscott hand-made paper. Signed by Messrs. Granville-Barker and Rutherston. Half title page, and red and black title page. Five coloured illustrations and numerous black and white illustrations throughout the text. 134 pages followed by colophon page. Rear inside board has small gilt stamped mark of the binder. Top page edges gilt, outer and bottom page edges rough. Book is in near fine condition, any flaw is very minor: There is very light soiling to the vellum covers, there are two very tiny small brown spots on one of the color illustration pages (not in the illustration) and they may have been in the paper, and there is one tiny hole in the Colophon page over at the outer page edge. Binding is tight and solid and internally the book is pristine, it appears to never been looked at more than once. There are no marks, no bookplates, no inscriptions, no owner signature. The Tragedie of Cymbeline, William Shakespeare.
