Small octavo bound in green cloth with black stamped borders, decorations, and title in center of cover. Rear cover with plain stamped border and decorations. Gilt titles on spine, Top and bottom of spine with small loss of cloth. Corners bumped and rubbed. Cloth on front cover has some "bubbling" where the paste has loosened. Brown end sheets. Prior owner's signature in pencil and dated Feb 7th, 1877, on fep. Originally printed in 1871, this is the thirteenth edition for this first American publication on decorating the windows with window boxes, porches, balconies, and patios of homes and apartments. 300pp. plus index, acknowledgements, and advertisements.
